Welcome back. We are excited about another fantastic year. In fact, we have planned a few surprises to blast into the year.
In case you haven’t yet noticed, we have launched a new website. Victoria Wright, Trey’s mom was instrumental in helping us get it right. Hope you like it. I think you will find it helpful, especially the
With funds provided by the PTO, our PK dads have been working to improve the PK playground. If the rains let up, they have a big surprise for the children. I won’t spoil the unveiling but it will be quite colorful when completed. There may still be a need for helpers; contact Brian Sanderson if you are interested at
Also over the summer, our teachers, 1st-6th, have become “aerospace specialists” in preparation for our STEM (enrichment) classes this year. NASA trainers spent the day with us last week to help us prep for our 2017-18 STEM lessons. We hope to create little astronauts this year.
As you are probably aware, August 21, 2017 we will experience a full solar eclipse. As a kick-off for our STEM studies, we have chartered 3 buses to take us to NASA that day. There we will be guided through a simulation and learn about everything space from the experts. The day will culminate with a viewing of the eclipse. No worry, NASA is providing viewing glasses.
Student permission forms and lunch/souvenir funds will be needed. The school has paid all other fees (bus, admission, glasses & workshop). Parents are invited but must cover their own expenses. We will send out more information next week. Please do not dilly-dally when you receive this information, we want to finalize arrangements quickly.
