Mass – Sept. 21st

Today is the Feast of St. Matthew. The Catholic Church assigns one day out of the year for each canonized saint — known as the saint’s feast day. The saints are remembered on their individual feast days with special mention, prayers, and possibly a scripture reading.
Here are a few things Father talked about to help make today’s Mass meaningful in your home too:
– Matthew was one of the 12 apostles. Before he followed Jesus, his job was to collect money. He was a sinner and not seen as a friend to the Jews. They didn’t like him.
– When Jesus lived, he was “different” because he didn’t care who you were, what you did, or if you were good or bad. He called everyone to follow him.
– When Jesus called, Matthew left everything behind without questions or conditions. He signed a blank check and gave his life to Jesus. Matthew didn’t know why; he just followed.
– We need to see people like Jesus does, through the eyes of God. He sees people with love and has faith in them.
– We need to follow Jesus like Matthew did, immediately and without question. Then, we can share God’s love with others like Matthew did.
